“All mortar shall be (state sand/cement proportion: Recommended 5:1, or 6:1) with CALAIR added at the rate of 30ml per 40kg bag of cement. Lime, lime water, or hydrated lime need not be used.
EFFECTS:
CALAIR gives a plastic, workable mix, which remains soft and useable for several hours in the batch, but sets quickly as soon as laid in the brickwork. Ultimate strength is greater than for lime/cement mortar. The yield per bag of cement is approximately the same as for a lime/cement mortar, due to the bulking-effect of air-entrainment.WHERE RECOMMENDED:
