This is Singapore Post (SingPost) HQ in Singapore. It is located just adjacent to Paya Lebar MRT Station, one of the busiest MRT Stations in Singapore. This building is designed with 4 levels basement whereas only the B4 level is solely for car park and the rest levels are habitable areas, a combination of retail outlets / food court and car park. During tendering stage, Contractors were all reminded that this project would not be an easy task. The basement is deep and the location is very near to the existing MRT line. Therefore, time and space are main constraints to the project. When Singapore Piling was awarded as the Sub-structure Contractor, they took the initiation to counter propose Cementaid Caltite System to waterproof the basement. The reason being is that the original waterproofing specification in the tender document was not as user-friendly as Caltite. The original proposal required a rather tedious construction method whereby the waterproofing system of the basement is through a series of chemical cementitious grouting process of which the Main Contractor believed that it would take much longer time to complete. Eventually, Cementaid Caltite System was cast to the top 300mm layer of the huge raft slab as waterproofing system. It works perfectly well still today.
