For the project of Happy Valley Racecourse Redevelopment commenced in 1993, works included extending the race track, upgrading the buildings, redeveloping roads and landscaping. The involved demolition and construction are on an area exceeding 18.4 hectares. Building works on the project included new headquarters for the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Hong Kong Football Club. In each case, temporary facilities had to be constructed before the main contractor Dragages could demolish, or renovate, existing buildings. Among the major challenges was managing the requirements and schedules of multiple owners. In particular, Dragages had to take possession of the land in stages, and complete works between racing seasons. Meeting the challenges, Dragages completed the construction of buildings a month ahead of schedule and the new race track was ready in time for the new racing season. For the construction for the Basement, Cementaid Everdure Caltite System had been used for the waterproofing of slab, as a long-term reliable protection yet a time-saving constructing solution.
