This first part of the shopping centre built in 1986 was originally the old Geelong wool stores. To preserve the facade, the developers needed to avoid undergournd construction for the necessary number of car park spaces. Instead, they chose the Cementaid Everdure Caltite System to deliver a membrane-free, design-life service, roof top car park. The Caltite trafficable roof deck is totally membrane-free, and protects the valuable shopping precinct below.
At 2012, it is 26 years in full service and has requires no ‘membrane’ replacement or maintenance. It will serve the owners and users of the Westfield Geelong centre, for the design-life of the building. And then some…
