Purpose-built over 4.5 hectares of prime Singapore land and completed in 2004, the Singapore Management University (SMU) campus is the first of its kind – designed, integrated and constructed in the heart of a fully developed cityscape, in Singapore’s Bras Basah area. The campus comprises six buildings – four schools, the Li Ka Shing Library and the Administration Building – and includes up to two basement levels with extensive car parking, as well as canteen areas, and overhead roadways and landscaped parkland / ground podium levels. The Project Team faced a range of challenges, including for the first time in Singapore construction of a major structure over two underground railway lines – the existing North-East Line as well as the new Circle Line, to be completed in 2010. The project also required the construction of a road tunnel at Fort Canning as well as the realignment of Stamford Road, to pass across the landscaped campus parkland suspended over basement carparking and canteen areas. All of which are kept permanently DRY!, by the Cementaid 3CC System.
